As the earth reels from the effects of global warming, scientists are scrambling with ways to completely shift from fossil fuel to a more sustainable and earth friendly alternative. So here are the reasons as to why Solar is the best alternative to man’s seemingly inexhaustible demands for more energy.
1. Reliability – The sun has been around for millions of years and scientists believe that it will still be there for millions more. The sun has long been venerated by ancient civilizations because of its life giving properties. Remember the saying ‘as sure as day’? Well, as the sun rising each day seems to be a good enough guarantee that the sun will be there tomorrow.
Are you familiar with the Toyota Prius? How about the Tesla Roadster? These automobiles are known around the world because they are friendly and green alternatives to the cars running around our cities today.
The concept of an electric car is not a new one. When Henry Ford first ventured into automobile making one of his earlier models was a steam powered automobile. Porsche even had an electric car in the early 1900’s that won the Exelberg Rally in 1901.
I firmly believe that our ethics was heavily molded in our childhood years. These were the years when we have no idea how to act in this crazy, heavily-laden with issues world so we just took after our supposedly role models i.e adults around us. It’s funny how hard we deny our caregivers’ characteristics—even despise at times—and yet be able to carry them to our own adulthood. It’s because these characteristics are deeply embedded in our own subconscious minds that if reflex has it, it will certainly come out unabashed.
It was also said that the earliest you can train your child of certain things, the better he or she will absorb the things you want them to perceive. This may be true and with this I also hope the next generation to be more eco conscious than the generation we are living right now since together with us, our kids are the ones experiencing the many diverse effects of climate change, global warming and other eco-related issues.
There’s never a shortage of food when it comes to human consumption. In reality, humans can eat anything they want no matter how gross or weird a particular food may be. As they say, it’s only in one’s mind. In the animal kingdom, eating is associated with survival of the fittest especially amongst the carnivore groups. It’s because most of these animals don’t have to be conscious eaters unlike humans who must think before he eats. This must also be the reason why we don’t condemn predator animals when they happen to kill or eat an endangered species. On the other hand, humans are born with both mind and conscience, although some of us choose to ignore it.
Given this power of choice, we should be wise enough to know the consequences of our actions. According to studies conducted by environmental groups, the top three reasons why people choose to eat endangered animals instead of those readily available for them are: tradition, poverty and plain arrogance. Although local authorities are now moving to restrict these unlawful activities, endangered animals are still being consumed at an alarming rate causing them to go further to near-extinction.
Philippines is a tropical country where typhoons are a common occurrence. Mainly, there are two types of climate in the Philippines, these are wet and dry seasons. An ordinary day for the Philippines would be hot and humid. The months of January to June are known to be the dry months where the sun is at its highest while the rest is considered as the wet or rainy season where rains are expected to pour. Because it is a tropical country, typhoons of different proportions frequented the area.
Climate in the Philippines is fairly simple to understand since it has only two and the months they occur are also equally divided between them. Life in the Philippines, even if poverty is an issue that never goes away, is plain, simple and manageable. This is the exact situation when the effects of climate change suddenly hit the country.
