Reasons to go Solar

As the earth reels from the effects of global warming, scientists are scrambling with ways to completely shift from fossil fuel to a more sustainable and earth friendly alternative.  So here are the reasons as to why Solar is the best alternative to man’s seemingly inexhaustible demands for more energy.

1.    Reliability – The sun has been around for millions of years and scientists believe that it will still be there for millions more.  The sun has long been venerated by ancient civilizations because of its life giving properties.  Remember the saying ‘as sure as day’?  Well, as the sun rising each day seems to be a good enough guarantee that the sun will be there tomorrow.

2.    Efficiency -  Scientists have noted that the sun emits enough energy in two minutes to power the entire United States for a year.  Imagine if science can find a way to store and harness that kind of power!  Another very important fact:  solar power has no residue.  Compared to fossil fuel or nuclear power, solar energy is clean and green.  It emits no toxic wastes or greenhouse gases.

3.    Cost – Solar power is relatively cheap compared to other sources of energy.  Solar powered cells have been around for a long time and recent discoveries have increased its dependability and storing power.  Compared to wind power or hydroelectric, generating power from the sun is cheaper and more efficient.

Let’s face it solar power is a very good candidate to replacing the energy we use today.  It is more dependable compared to wind and more powerful compared to hydro.  Solar energy research has come a long way from powering calculators.  Now, solar energy power small homes.  Soon it will power office buildings and even cities!
