How Deforestation Affects Climate Change

Due to the overwhelming changes in our climate today, it is but normal for experts to seek the root cause of this problem—even their potential ones. In this case, deforestation stands as the apparent cause, not a potential one, of climate change. Since areas upon areas of forestland are fast diminishing these days, freaky weather changes are expected to get worse than ever.

Experts believed that if the government is deadest in fighting climate change, they should have a good look into deforestation concerns since it is the number one contributing factor to the problem at hand. There is an estimated 20% greenhouse gas emission as far as deforestation is concerned and the alarming rate which deforestation is now assuming are sure to cause catastrophic results soon.

Let us remember that these forests are our own natural resources which no man can imitate. It has its own part in the biodiversity of life even if man refuses to acknowledge them. One of the most important roles our forests play is absorbing carbon dioxide from the air—tons of it, for that matter. Without them, the ever harmful carbon dioxide will just float above our heads, further increasing greenhouse gas emissions. This should not be a problem if only we were not emitting too much of it—way more than the natural cycle could process. As long as there are certain groups of people degrading our forestlands while the authorities are too busy doing other things, expect global warming to get worse than ever!
