Frogs Threatened with Extinction!

The wee, jumping, playful creatures in your garden may not be there on the train of life for long, unless active measures are taken to ensure its survival. Environmental scientists have been concerned with the existence of frogs on our planet against the environmental as well as anthropogenic stresses. Research studies conducted over the past few years reveal that dozens of frog species have already reached the brink of extinction while others are close to endangerment.

The first notable study on the demise of frogs was published in early 2006 in the reputed journal Nature. Led by J. Alan Pounds, a team of researchers investigated large kills of frogs as a result of the deadly amphibian, parasitic, chytrid fungus, which grows on the skin and teeth of frogs and also releases a toxin into their bodies. The research concluded the existence of a strong link between temperature rise due to greenhouse effect and the growth of the chytrid fungus. Over 70 species of amphibians, including the golden toad, vanished due to the rise in global temperatures in the 1980s and 90s. The disappearance of more than 65 harlequin frog species was the most pronounced with the highest increase (peaks) in temperature.

What is a Hybrid Car

The word “Hybrid” means a cross, or mixture of something. In this case, a Hybrid is a combination of safeness for the environment and overall a better choice car. These amazing hybrid Vehicles have been an enormous environmental impact and is the best bet to get the majority out of each tank of fuel while driving through the city. These vehicles also have reduced noise emissions in which road noises from tires and wind, things you usually hear when inside a car, are not affected by the hybrid design.

This remarkable car also reduces air pollution, unlike any average vehicle; due to lower fuel consumption. However, battery toxicity has become a concern; although car companies can recycle the batteries after their use.

What is Deforestation

Deforestation is something that “we” humans are responsible for, it is the logging of trees in forested areas. Each day, trees are sold as a product are used, cleared used for grazing land by humans. Deforestation is largely unknown and there are no consequences amongst the people damaging the planet in this matter.

It has been known that forests disappear naturally by extensive climate change, fires, hurricanes or any other disturbances that are not caused by people. However, even when these horrible events occur, we never prevent them, nor do we help change what has been done. This topic has been the key focus for scientist to debate; it is a rising issue, which needs to be looked at more.

What is the Carbon Cycle?

To most scientists it is considered one of the most important things to be acquainted with during these chaotic times. This interesting factor is the biochemical cycle in which carbon is exchanged among the hydrosphere, pedosphere, geosphere, biosphere, and atmosphere of our planet Earth. The Carbon Cycle is primarily thought of as four major reservoirs, in which carbon interconnects by varies pathways of numerous exchanges.

The four major reservoirs are:
–The atmosphere.
–The global biosphere. Which is defined to include the fresh water systems and non-living organic material, such as soil carbon.
–Our Oceans, as well as dissolved inorganic carbon and living and inert marine biota.
–Finally, the sediments, which is also including fossil fuels.
For example, take the atmosphere. Carbon exists in the Earth’s atmosphere mainly as the gas ‘carbon dioxide’; although it’s only a small percentage of the atmosphere. Yet, it plays an important role in supporting life.
